A photo session can be a stressful thing for adults let alone kiddos. I try not to keep them in one place for very long and if they start getting antsy, I’ll ask them to start doing silly stuff so they know that they don’t have to “Stand still and smile pretty.”. In this sequence, I had each of the kids turn around in circles which rewarded us with natural smiles and laughter…plus a few candids of the wild spirit of children <3
I will always advocate booking a family session with grandparents! They want photos of you and them AND the kiddos. It doesn’t have to be every year. Just once a decade :P It’ll be the best birthday / Christmas / Just Because present they’ve ever received <3
I am to get one “nice” photo of the kids but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have al little fun in the process :P I love capturing these photos that really show off kids’ personalities. Plus, they always make me laugh!
Graham’s mom brought the cake and props and I brought the camera and the fast button finger to capture this cutie experience his first cake smash. I love it to photograph these!
We had a grumpy little that morning but moving around really helps take the pressure off of them to “look pretty for the camera.” We always start out with walking down a path—away from me—holding hands. That way, the whole session doesn’t start out with a camera in their face, haha
