DOCUMENTARY FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY
The Chaos. The Laughter. The Mundane. All of it is Special.
15 years ago, when I was sitting in my parent’s living room obsessing over the photos in National Geographic and Newsweek, I realized that taking unposed-real-life pictures of people to tell a story was an actual profession that I could have. Photojournalism was just for news back then, so I studied all the great coorospondants—their images coming in from around the world with bylines that said, GETTY and REUTERS next to the name. That’s what I wanted to be. I wanted to photograph life, authentically.
As it turns out, I learned that freelance photojournalists don’t get paid very fairly and they were never home to do any of the caregiving that life through my way, so I rolled with the punches and photographed weddings and families…always with a bend toward authenticity. Now with almost a decade of full-time photography experience, I’m bringing my photojournalism roots to families.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Documentary Family Photography sessions are usually planned around an activity. Think about what you and yours like to do for fun and then, extend the time out a bit to capture the prep and aftermath of that activity. These activities can be mundane, like going to the grocery store, or once in a lifetime like driving a racecar around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I’ll be there to capture it all.
DIGITAL FILES
It’s the 21st century and you deserve your files! All sessions include full-resolution digital files, printing, and usage rights so that you never have to worry about additional fees to have your photos. They are yours. Forever!
PRIVACY AND SHARING
I always love to give sneak peeks and share my sessions (after all, that is likely how you found me) but I completely understand if you would like to keep your photos private. If you would rather keep your images off of social media (job security, foster children, etc) just let me know and I would be happy to accommodate.
PAYMENT METHODS
I strive to make things easy. Payment plans are encouraged, let me know if you would like to split payments and we’ll work it out. I accept all major forms of payment—and some not so major ones too. Cash, Credit/Debit, Venmo, etc. I am also open to trades. Feel free to let me know what would work best for you!
