“Find ecstasy in life; the mere sense of living is joy enough.” — Emily Dickinson
What do you do when your parents want a session with their six grand kids who all happen to be under eight years old? You call your good pal Catlin! haha. Thankfully these guys love my candid style and understood that getting all the kids to smile and look at the camera at the same time would be next to impossible (although we did get pretty close).
Whenever I photograph a large family group I really just like to play and capture the kids just as they are. People don’t typically hire me for “perfect” and I am thankful for it. If you are too caught up on what photos we “should” get then we’ll miss the great personalities that are right in front of our eyes.
It is a lot harder than you think! I tell parents all the time that by the end of the session you’ll be thinking “Oh no! We didn’t get anything good! My kids are so chaotic!” but I promise good stuff is happening.
